In astrology, there is more to learn than solely about the signs and planets. Another key component to an individual’s natal astrology chart is about the astrological houses. The houses reveal where we may have certain experiences or when we can expect something to take place. In this post, however, we’re going to dive specifically into the seventh house of partners and education!

Unlike signs and planets, houses regard events and circumstances in which we tend to have certain types of experiences. The types of experiences we may have depends on the house and its associations. Any astrological connections to the seventh house indicate things which are mainly surrounding relations with others and partnerships.

More specifically, the seventh house involves integrating with another person and oftentimes, marriage. However, this house represents any serious commitment to another person, including business partners. Therefore, in this house we will find our life experiences where we aim to balance ourselves, attempting to unconsciously bring harmony to a part of us we seemingly deny as existing.

The seventh house is also known as the Libra house. Libra is here to form partnerships, harmonize with their fellow men, and balance themselves and others by weighing up the metaphorical scales. Because Libra is ruled by the planet Venus, this sign is generally able to do this in a charming and passive way. The seventh house, however, may show us where these types of events occur within our lives, depending on the personal, natal planets in the house.

While Libra strives to integrate with others, Venus appreciates romance and intimacy. The seventh house is similar to Libra and Venus, while its focus is on where these desires, or lack thereof, are expressed. In this house, we can find things like how we relate to others, enemies or rivalries, cooperation, parties, projections, and our ability to relate to people, especially the opposite sex.

In this image is the astrological wheel. Within it, you’ll find the twelve zodiac signs, the ten planets, the points, and the twelve houses. On the right side of the wheel, next to Libra and the number 7 is where you’ll find the seventh house.

Naturally, Libra rules the seventh house. However, for many of us, we have a different sign ruling our personal seventh house. We may also have or may not have planets in the house that influences this placement. Likewise, any aspects to the seventh house can impact it.

Everything, from the line separating Virgo and Libra to the opposite line that divides Libra and Scorpio is within the seventh house. For this example, there are no planets within the seventh house. So, whenever you’re looking at your personal astrology chart, this is how you determine what’s in your seventh house.

Those who have multiple planets in the seventh house are likely to go through many serious relationships without realizing they’re struggling to love themselves and integrate two, opposing sides of their personality. As a result of a lack of self-love, they search for this unfulfilled love in others, neglecting a part of themselves they unconsciously perceive is unlovable. If these planets are malefic planets, the relationships may be toxic or abusive.

People who don’t have any planets in the seventh house are more likely to have fewer relationships. When they become involved with others, they’re long-term commitments. For more insight, it is helpful to look at the sign or personal ruler of the of a person’s seventh house, as well as aspects to their house.

This person is very reactive to others and their treatment toward them. They’re shaped by the partnerships they create. It is literally in the life force that drives them to create harmonious bonds between themselves and others they care for. As if only realizing who they are or who they want to be can be done through knowing another (very deeply) that they finally fuel their purpose and calm the ongoing, anxious search. However, this person should never settle for less than value. There is potential here to meet someone of high status, power, or reputation-who equally loves them.

This person can be anywhere, within anything, and with anyone. They blend so perfectly that the room forms them, or they form the room and there’s no difference. At some point, however, they may gain a shallow reputation because of this; although it was never their intention to be shallow. They only wanted to understand all walks of life. It’s not unusual for this person to have a jealous spouse who leaves for similar reasons. This person needs someone as sensitive as they are, who will give them affection and freedom. Family is very involved here as well.

Mercury in the Seventh House

If the person you date doesn’t engage your heart and stimulate your mind at the same time, your body will not be okay with them touching you. This placement indicates a conflict of the mind/body, body/heart, heart/mind, etc. Either way, the most important/attractive quality in a person for them is someone who can make them laugh, teach them new things, and engage in frequent debate and discussion. Perhaps you encounter frequent flings, but this is because you keep it so casual at first and often decide quite suddenly it’s going nowhere.

Anyone who is too loud or aggressive with you will never do. This individual needs someone who is charming and polite. Some of them, however, will end up with con artists and players. After being betrayed once or twice, you become much choosier about whom you allow in. You’re independent and don’t need anyone, but you do crave a partner and a good connection to someone, however. When your expectations become grounded, and you find that person, you’ll both have to be careful not to take or give too much from one another and compromise instead.

Mars symbol

This placement increases marriage issues, especially with one’s temperament and anger toward their partner. This person is usually not a team player and doesn’t enjoy taking a back seat to anyone, much less an equal counterpart, because they’re very competitive. They want to be in charge and can even be intolerable toward their partners. This person has a very lively and passionate sex life with their partner but can be hasty and unfaithful if unhappy and challenged emotionally by the partner or the partner’s family.

Jupiter symbol

This person often gets others’ attention by ways of philosophy or knowledge acquired through traveling and getting to know the world on a level much deeper than the surface. Oftentimes, they marry someone, quite coincidentally, who expands this person culturally as well as financially. The downside to this placement is that the person may also have a “grass is always greener on the other side” mentality and that can cause real trouble for them; if they’re not mindful. Be careful not to trust too easily, following a period of self-doubt and giving up partnerships entirely.

Saturn symbol

Serious-minded about relationships they choose to get into, this person doesn’t open up with ease and in fact, it is a struggle for them to be vulnerable. They don’t, however, give up easily or even endure a terrible marriage rather than let it go because they’re afraid to open up to someone else again. Sometimes, they marry older people, who already have success or money, and don’t rush to communicate at a deeper level with their partner. There could even be some type of double life, while also staying loyal; such as keeping work and friends separate from family and home.

Uranus symbol
Uranus in the Seventh House

This person often has to deal with extreme changes in partnerships, and usually it’s by the choices or actions of the person they’re involved with. Unfortunately, their love lives swing like a pendulum. They do, however, have a colorful array of relationships and never give u. Always learning something new about people as a whole, they’ll typically choose quite bizarre or eccentric types to involve themselves with, even if they themselves are conservative. Having a romantic and dreamy outlook, they’re very attractive to others. If they marry, it will be an odd/unordinary marriage.

Neptune symbol
Neptune in the Seventh House

This person is oftentimes quite disillusioned about their relationships with others. Although they could have literal psychic realizations about who their partner may actually be, they’ll continue living in denial for a long time to avoid the painful truth. Not realizing how high their standards are, however, this person’s dreams are usually dramatically shot down at a sudden heartbreak. After another individual or more has completely taken advantage of this person and caused them deep trauma, they may finally realize the commitments are not worth continuing to try because they often feel tricked when they actually choose not to acknowledge the reality.

Pluto symbol

It isn’t uncommon for this person to many times become involved in strange, toxic, or even dangerous relationships, ranging from abusive partners to manipulating co-workers to obsessive stalkers. Unbeknownst to the individual with this placement, they are usually dealing with karma that is trying to work itself out in this lifetime. Although seemingly horrifying to onlookers and outsiders, this person also has some rather successful and blissful times that teach them a great deal of wisdom. A difficult path, this person makes a great listener and is understanding. They’re regularly an intense, deep soul, who truly transforms those who bond with them.
